New Year's Eve 2009

Oh, the new year holds so much promise and excitement! I am looking forward to working hard on my goals, spending quality time with friends and family and enriching my life with love, determination, activity, art and literature.

Today's quote is simple but one that we must remember every day to stop discouragement:

"One may walk over the highest mountain one step at a time."
~ John Wanamaker
See you all next year! :)

Established my Goals for 2010

So, the new year is approaching and I have decided to get "gazelle intense" (as Dave Ramsey puts it) about my goals. I am all about goals, and self improvement so I do a lot of reading about motivation, self reflection and how to make my dreams become realities.

I have found that it is more challenging to turn my dreams into realities the older I get. Why is that? Maybe because I am involved in so much more than I was 10 or 15 years ago. Gosh, even 20 years ago, I had a freshly printed college diploma, a very small apartment, an even smaller paycheck, an even smaller car and a cute, but feisty kitten named Shadow. And a lot of student loan debt. I promised myself then that I would pay back every penny of those student loans. And I did it. With gazelle intensity. So I can do it again.

I chose 4 goals to reach for 2010. They are as follows:

  • Sell at least 4 houses this year. I work full-time and have my real estate license. I help my friends buy and sell houses and because of my full-time job, I don't move a lot of real estate. But I do love it, and the commissions help me pay off debt.
  • I want to completely pay off 4 bills. I will call them Furnace, Roofer, Lowes and Bank of America.
  • I want to loose at least 20 pounds.
  • Read one book per month.

So those are my goals. I will write each day to update my progress and the things that I do to reach every goal.

I will also post a motivational quote of the day. I have done this for myself for the past two years and frequently go back through my journal to read them for inspiration. This will be today's quote:

"The most important thing about having goals is having one."

~ Geoffry F. Albert
